On October 22, Colorado Celtic folk band Avourneen brings Cohen’s legendary music and poetry to life at the Neustadt JAAMM Festival! With live music, storytelling, and special guest musicians, this tribute celebrates the songs and words that have connected generations.

What happens when the work required to sustain our families, communities, and cities is finally recognized as art?

Maintenance Artist explores the life and groundbreaking work of Mierle Laderman Ukeles, a pioneering public artist with deep ties to Denver. From caring for a family to caring for an entire city, Ukeles transformed everyday acts of maintenance into powerful works of art and asked us to reconsider the labor we so often overlook.
Her story is also one rooted right here in Denver as the daughter of prominent Denver Rabbi Manuel Laderman.

A closet filled with baby essentials can become so much more when a community comes together around it.
The Community Baby Closet at JCC Denver is helping families access clothing, supplies, and other essentials while creating another place for parents and caregivers to connect, share, and feel supported.
With community partners including JewishColorado and First 36, the Closet is part of a growing network of support for families throughout Denver.

For Lauren and Ari Brenner, giving through a Donor Advised Fund is about making generosity intentional and staying connected to their community.

After participating in Jewish Baby University and learning how donor support helps make the program possible, the new parents decided to pay that experience forward by supporting the families coming after them through their DAF.

With DAF Day coming up October 8, we’re sharing their story in this month’s newsletter, along with ways you can put your own DAF to work for the organizations and communities you care about.

In remembrance of the tragic events that took place on October 7, 2023, we invite members of the JCC Denver community to stop by the lobby of the JCC to create their own Calanit flowers to add to our community memorial. The Calanit, also known as the Poppy Anemone, is native to Israel and the Middle East. These brilliant red flowers often blanket the desert, including the region scarred by the tragic events of October 7, 2023. For decades, the Calanit has symbolized mourning in Israeli society.

Our memorial was inspired by Calaniot Before the Rain, an initiative by Israeli artists to create over 100,000 ceramic Calanit flowers to memorialize the victims of October 7. JCC Ceramic's own Vered Harary Koslow, Kayle Lamar and Sandy Oster has joined in this act of remembrance by creating ceramic Calaniot. The display will be present through the month of October.

Join Rocky Mountain Equality on October 11 at 2:00 PM in their support of Always a Boy at the Neustadt JAAMM Festival! 🏳️‍⚧️

Always a Boy is a heartfelt play exploring family, identity, and what it means to love and support a transgender child. Presented in collaboration with Ground Floor Theatre, the production is part of this year’s Neustadt JAAMM Festival at the JCC Denver.

Following the October 11 performance, stick around for a special reception and learn more about how Rocky Mountain Equality supports and celebrates our community year-round.
