Heading to the parks this summer?
Listen up.
N O T H I N G and I mean nothing, will humble you quicker than walking across Epcot at 2pm in July.
(Photo for reference 😉)
Disney in the summer is basically a survival reality show with fireworks at the end, so here are my must-haves for surviving the heat without melting into the pavement:
💧 WATER.Even if you think you won’t need it… you will. Bring more than you think because paying $6 for a bottle of water in the parks feels like getting mugged by a mouse. Yes, there’s free water available… but if you’ve ever tasted Florida tap water, you already know why I pack my own 😅
🧂 Electrolyte packets.Do not underestimate the power of these tiny magical powders. My favorites are Gatorade Zero and Paloma Salud electrolytes. Between the heat, sweating, walking 20,000 steps, and your “just one more iced coffee,” these can be the difference between magical memories and a migraine from the depths of hell.
🪭 Wearable fans + cooling towels.Absolute lifesavers when the queue is 75 minutes long and the shade is a myth. Nothing bonds a family faster than fighting over the portable fan.
🍱 Indoor meal breaks.Find the air conditioning and cling to it like your life depends on it… because honestly it might. Midday indoor meals are elite strategy. Recharge, cool off, and regain the will to continue.
🛌 Midday hotel breaks.Especially for families with littles! From about 1pm–3pm, Florida turns into the surface of the sun. Go back to the resort, nap, swim, reset, and avoid everyone having a full emotional breakdown by dinner time.
💊 Tylenol.Pack it. Heat headaches do not care about your vacation plans. Hydration + electrolytes + less caffeine = your best defense against becoming personally victimized by the Florida sun.
☀️ SUNSCREEN.Every inch. Reapply it. And if you’re baby wearing, don’t forget those sweet little exposed knees and a sunhat 🥹♥️
