An off-the-beaten-path boat tour in Charleston SC and Folly Beach SC. Adventure into the salt marsh in an endless sea of spartina grass, where oyster-lined tidal creeks, sheltered behind barrier islands, provide home for several fish, bird, and mammal species. Watch Bottlenose dolphins on the way to Morris Island to see the lighthouse and look for shells. Bring your bachelorette party on the big boat and enjoy the day with music, drinks, and sunshine!

Join us this week for a dolphin mini series - all about strand feeding!

I'm lucky to have spent countless hours over the last decade watching these dolphins and am excited to share some of them with you all.

Conservation is at the forefront of everything we do. If you see dolphins, please be sure to stay 50yds away (or as far as our narrow creeks will allow!) and do not approach dolphins who may be feeding near/on shore.

Critter of the Week: Striped Burrfish!

These fish may look fierce, but other than the sharp spines and sharp beak like jaws they're totally harmless! 🙂

Thankfully they aren't aggressive: when threatened, they puff up by pulling water into their bodies via an organ called a buccal pump (the same thing some sharks use to pass water over their gills!).

They can grow up to 10" long, but we rarely see them that large in the creeks.

This little guy took a wrong turn into our crab trap and was quite pleased to be put back into open water. We suggest holding them delicately should you ever need to free one!

Meet the ghost crab! These nocturnal crabs are specially adapted to live out of water. Fine hairs on the base of their legs transfers water from damp sand up to their gills, but you may see them scurrying from their holes above the high tide line down to the shore for a dip.

Keep an eye out for them on evening walks - and you may be lucky enough to have one join you for sunset!

The Charleston area is home to around 300 dolphins. We never get tired of seeing them on our sunset tours around Folly Beach!

Most often we see pods of 4-6ish individuals, but some days we're in for a treat when pods join up for happy hour!
