There are many different reasons to choose a hotel. For this weekend, my reason was bunk beds for my son and his friends. Angad Arts (Hilton) is a cool place, with a unique color palette, a great rooftop bar and lots of art. Well located by Powell Hall, home of the St. Louis Symphony, the Fox Theater and St. Louis University. It has great potential, but the service has room for improvement. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, we got what we came for — bunk beds. 😂

Some of the best trips start with a last-minute “yes.” There’s still time to join me in Europe this November for a week exploring Budapest, Vienna and some of the most beautiful destinations in Central Europe.

The safari experiences I had in Botswana last year inspired me and left me wishing for more. So I’m studying to become an Africa specialist with Abercrombie & Kent. I’m learning this morning about gorilla trekking, and the differences between the experience in Uganda and Rwanda. Fascinating!
I spend a huge amount of my time doing professional development both in the field (traveling!) but also doing webinars, reading, and completing destination and supplier certification programs. My clients trust me with their time and resources and I do not take it lightly. That said, I’m passionate about exploring the world, so there is no better type of work for me!

Nashville International Airport, our home base, is about to get a new name! It's the perfect way to welcome people to Music City and a lovely sendoff for all our adventures. ✈️

Dolly Parton gave us so much through her music, her generosity and the way she represented Tennessee to the world.

Dollywood turned her beloved Smoky Mountains into a destination for families from around the world, while still celebrating the people, music, traditions and beauty of East Tennessee. What she created went far beyond a theme park. She helped build an entire tourism legacy and, in the process, created jobs, supported her hometown and gave millions of people another reason to fall in love with Tennessee.

As a Tennessee-based travel advisor, I’ve always admired that part of her story. Travel is ultimately about creating memories and connecting people to a place, and Dolly understood that better than most.

Dolly Parton meant so much to so many of us, but her impact on Tennessee tourism is worth celebrating, too.
Through Dollywood, she helped put her beloved East Tennessee on the map for travelers from across the country. Today, Sevier County, home to Dollywood and the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains, ranks among the most popular road trip destinations in the United States.
For those of us in Tennessee’s travel industry, Dolly’s legacy is also a reminder of just how powerful a destination can become when its culture, hospitality and sense of place are shared with the world.
