Most people visit Sugarloaf Mountain by taking the cable car… but I wanted to experience it differently. I decided to hike part of the way up and earn the view step by step.

The trail starts surrounded by nature, with the sounds of the jungle, the trees above you, and little moments where Rio begins to appear between the leaves. As you keep going, the city slowly changes — the noise fades, the ocean gets closer, and you start to understand why Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

What I loved most about this hike is that it made the final view feel more special. When you arrive and see the mountains, the beaches, Guanabara Bay, the cable cars, and the city stretching in every direction, it hits different because you didn’t just show up — you walked for it.

Rio is famous for Copacabana, Ipanema, and the beaches, but this city is also full of trails, mountains, jungle, and unforgettable viewpoints. Hiking to Pão de Açúcar reminded me that sometimes the best travel experiences are not only about the destination, but about the way you get there.

✈️🌍 If you think you’ve seen everything Georgia has to offer, think again.

​Most people stick to the paved trails at Tallulah Gorge State Park, but the real adventure is at the bottom of the canyon. This is the Gorge Floor Trail—a route so intense that the rangers only hand out 100 permits a day.

​There is no actual trail down here. You are literally scrambling over massive boulders, crossing rushing river currents, and navigating wet rocks just to make it through.

​The payoff? Sliding down the natural rock slide at Bridal Veil Falls into a crystal-clear pool. 🌊

​⚠️ What you need to know before you go:

​Permits are rare: Get in line at the ranger station early. When the 100 permits are gone, they are gone.

​Safety first: You must pass a mandatory ranger briefing before heading down.

​The gear: Proper hiking boots with serious grip are non-negotiable.

​The exit: The hike out is a totally different, punishing climb—be ready for a workout!

I had seen photos of Tallulah Gorge before, but nothing compares to standing on the edge and seeing it with your own eyes.

One overlook leads to another, each one revealing a different perspective of this incredible canyon. The suspension bridge, the waterfalls, the cliffs, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature make this one of the most unforgettable hikes in North Georgia.

Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones that take you the farthest from home. They're the ones that remind you how much beauty is closer than you think.

Dukes Creek Falls just hit different. Tucked inside the Chattahoochee National Forest, just north of Helen, GA — this 150-foot waterfall is one of those places that makes you put your phone down... after you film it, obviously 😅
Here's the wild part: that massive drop you're staring at? It's not even Dukes Creek — it's Davis Creek crashing down a sheer granite canyon before the two merge at the bottom. Nature out here doing the absolute most.
The hike is only 2 miles round trip, totally doable, and ends at a multi-level viewing platform that will genuinely make your jaw drop. Oh, and the entry fee? $4. Four dollars. For THIS.
