We are convenient to the Greater Wilmington area. The USCG Veteran crew will do its best to make sure you have a safe and enjoy

This involves 3 to 10-hour trips, mainly fishing for Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Dolphin, Amberjack, Grouper and Seabass, depending on the season and conditions on the day. On these trips you can expect to use techniques such as light tackle, heavy tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, jigging, popping and spinning. Your fishing adventure starts on a 31’ Cape Horn center console boat that can comfortably take up to 6 anglers. It is fast, dry, comfortable, and a true head turner. All rods, reels, terminal tackle, bait, and fishing licenses are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, fishing. Fish cleaning service may be available after your trip, but be sure to bring an adequately sized cooler if you will be keeping your catch. Licensed, insured, State and Federally permitted. Are sharks eating your catch? If so, how often? How far offshore were you fishing? What species of fish did you hook? What species of sharks are mostly responsible? Are they juvenile or adult? Are they male or female sharks? What is the impact to the fishermen?

Our second CCRG project - funded jointly with WRRI - Water Resources Research Institute of the UNC System and Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science - is "DNA Detectives: Working with Local Charter Fishermen to Understand Shark Depredation Events in North Carolina."

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Joel Fodrie and Chelsea Black are working with Grassy Sound Charters's Anthony Procida to identify the shark species involved in depredation events off the NC coast through molecular techniques, the first study to use DNA techniques to identify shark species involved in depredation here in NC.
