Mudfish Adventures

Mudfish Adventures Come ride with me to experience the mudfish adventure on Toledo Bend. It’s not just a fly fishing trip, it’s the adventure.

Every day is different and nothing is routine. Have you ever caught a Big Bass on a top water hair popper, with a fly rod? It’s not just a fishing trip, it’s the adventure. I can take you to the secluded marsh flats in the Palo Gaucho and Mid Lake areas exclusively. This will be an adventure you will never forget. This adventure is full of wildlife, bald eagles, gators, pigs and if you look real h

ard you might see the Legend of Boggy Creek (skunk ape)! I primarily target Black Bass (catch, photo & release) on a fly rod or a bait caster reel. My vast knowledge of this area and fishery along with a custom built Gator Tail boat with a 35 HP mud motor will provide you with a magic carpet ride to areas no other boat can go!

Capt Scooby. I’m ready for next year!!

One of the best parts of Texas Brigades is seeing cadets, Assistant School Leaders, and instructors continue giving back long after camp has ended.

At the Texas Trophy Hunters Extravaganza, members of the Coastal Brigade family volunteered at the Texas Brigades booth, sharing their experiences and introducing new families to the opportunities that Texas Brigades provides. Their passion for conservation and leadership is helping inspire the next generation to get involved.

Texas Brigades is built on a community of volunteers and mentors who believe in investing in young people. It’s inspiring to see the lessons learned at Coastal Brigade continue long after graduation, as participants return to support the program that helped shape them.

Capt Scooby. Hey Crew, here’s the latest update from the Mudfish Rod Shop in Hemphill, Texas. Following the Big Splash Bass tournament this week, several anglers visited us for repairs on their Bass rods. Notably, we addressed issues including a broken tip section on a spinning rod, replaced 12 eyes on 4 bass rods, and performed necessary maintenance on an old sentimental bass rod. Our team provided meticulous care, including chemical cleaning, to ensure each rod is ready to land that trophy fish. What can the Mudfish Rod Shop do for you?

Capt. Scooby and guest angler Wesley Wempren, Owner of Swamp Stixx Custom Rods in Louisiana enjoyed another exceptional day on Toledo Bend Lake, Texas. Water temperatures ranged from 55-59 degrees. Successful Bass catches were made in 1-3’ of water amidst grass vegetation using a 1/4 oz chartreuse white/blue Hidden Oasis custom Spinner Bait with oversized blades. Capt. Scooby utilized a Talon Brand 3/8 white/chartreuse swim jig paired with a boot tail trailer, achieving optimal results with a steady retrieve. Crappie were caught in 1-3’ of water using 1/16 oz. Wager hand-tied jigs, with Black/Chartreuse and Pink/Black proving effective. Get out there ASAP..!!

Capt Scooby and Angler Boyd Bishop, also known as Mr Bubbles, of Hemphill, Texas, is seeking to recharge his fishing excursion by targeting catfish and crappie on Toledo Bend Lake as the sun sets, utilizing his Mudfish Solid Glass Custom Rod. Water temperatures range from 56 to 67 degrees, with low water levels in the backcountry. Crappie are holding in 15 feet of water on stumps and submerged logs, feeding in the upper 1-2 feet on 1/32 oz wager hand-tied blue/chartreuse jigs. Meanwhile, catfish are feeding on shrimp in 1-4 feet of water, caught using slip corks. It has been another productive day on the water with my OLD experienced camera Man …!!?
