Something a little different is happening off the coast of Hilton Head this week! ⛵

The Formula 18 Americas Championship is bringing competitive sailors to the island September 22–25.

These aren't your typical leisurely sailboats. We're talking fast catamarans, colorful sails, and some seriously impressive sailing skills.

When you're spending time at the beach this week, keep an eye out for the action offshore. It's not every day you get to see championship-level sailing right here on Hilton Head!

It’s when summer doesn’t feel quite over yet. Warm sunny days, more space, less people, room to slow down, and plenty of time outside soaking up ocean, beach trails and nature. It is island life.

Turtles are a miracle, especially the loggerheads that we have here on Hilton Head Island at The beach not only was she a hatchling smaller than your hand,but determined she will struggle to get out of the nest across the dunes down the sand to the beach and then into the wide Atlantic Ocean, where  she looks for protective area that has nurturing food in the ocean and she may be one of the that…A few decades later, she will reverse her direction and end up back here. Yes indeed she is a miracle. If you’re on the island now I hope you get to see some of these babies heading to the ocean!

One question we get asked every once in a while is “Are there sharks in the 💦 water”? Our answer is always the same.The ocean is their home if you’re near an ocean yes there are always sharks in the ocean somewhere oceans are huge. My cousin’s answer is…he walks over to the ocean from the beach puts his hand in the water,scoop up some water, tastes it and says “yep it’s salty there are sharks in here!”My question is what is that Jimmy Buffett song go? You know the name of this song is Fin?
