Polynesian Cultural Center
W spent the day visiting authentic villages and mingled with natives from six Pacific cultures as they demonstrate their arts and crafts and traditions. Very interesting place. These are just a few highlights of the day.

The Luau Kalamaku takes place at the historic Kilohana Plantation and includes a lavish buffet of Hawaiian food, traditional hulas, and fire dances. We started the night off with a train ride around the plantation. Then gathered around the traditional fire pit and watched the roast pig emerge, a special treat to accompany the already lavish buffet of local delicacies and desserts.

Hulas, fire dances, and storytelling about ancient sea voyages that brought the original Hawaiians to these islands from Polynesia brought to life in story and song.
It was a night to remember.

Today’s adventure took us to Pāʻia, Maui paia.maui. This is a historic Maui town featuring HOOKIPA BEACH, the windsurfing capital of the world, about four miles east of Kahului on Maui's north coast. Divided into Lower Pāʻia and Pāʻia, this community was once a booming plantation town during the heyday of Maui's sugar cane industry. Today Pāʻia is a town of expensive rustic storefronts filled with local art galleries, one-of-a-kind shopping boutiques and restaurants.

Grab the fresh catch of the day at the popular Pāʻia Fishmarket. Today I had grilled fresh mahi-mahi Yummmmm.

During the winter, the big north shore waves make Hoʻokipa Beach a magnet for pro windsurfers and kite surfers. Watch the pros compete or swim and sunbathe in the calmer summer months. Turtles live to bask in the sun here. In the afternoon, you could see hundreds of turtles swimming in and out of the beach here. It was an awesome site.

Byodo-In Temple, O'ahu, Hawaii is located at the foot of the Ko’olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It welcomes people of all faiths to worship, meditate or simply appreciate its beauty and history as a non-practicing Buddhist temple. Built in 1963, the Byodo-In Temple is a Hawaii state landmark and one of the states’s best kept secrets.
