Out on the water with the best crew! ⚓️ Captain Lucas and deckhand Dave pulled our Dungeness pots this afternoon so we could harvest dinner—and enough to share with friends. Fresh Dungeness, cooked the same day, shared around the table tonight. Nothing better! Grateful for these two, the boat, and another good day on thewater. 🦀 &RudyShenanigans

Took a break from our own fishing… and got the best show in the woods.
From our quiet perch we watched this momma bear and her cub decide the fish could wait. They tumbled and played in the creek like the whole forest belonged to just the two of them.
Some days the real catch isn’t what’s on the line — it’s the moments you almost walk past.

Another unforgettable day on Game Creek with our awesome guests Michael & Sonia Koehler!
They had some seriously great fishing action, and even landed a rare rainbow that made the whole trip extra special.
To top it all off, we got front-row seats to a big brown bear fishing right alongside us — something we never tire of witnessing.

As that popular question keeps circulating these days…
“Would you rather run into a bear or a man in the woods?” Watching these two bruins tussle makes me pause and wonder if some folks might quietly reconsider the “bear” option.

These are coastal brown bears (Ursus arctos) on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska—part of the famous ABC Islands (Admiralty, Baranof, Chichagof). This place holds some of the highest brown bear densities on the planet (roughly 0.7–1+ bears per square mile in places). The island is home to well over a thousand of them—more brown bears than people in its small communities. They’re big, powerful, salmon-fueled, and when two mature males decide to settle a dispute over territory or a lady friend, it’s raw wilderness theater. Respect the space, stay quiet, and enjoy the show from a safe distance.
