Just before the start of the 2025 Iditarod. Fun fact! We were told in our pre race meetings by the Iditarod Insiders that we shouldn’t talk about p**p as often during our trail interviews. There was concern that folks paying good money to watch the race might not like “stool” being the main topic. I guess us mushers talk about p**p a lot? 🤔 😂. Well of course we do! This is the #1 way to read how our dogs body’s are performing or more importantly, going to perform on the next run. Even at home, we talk about p**p regularly. Even when we dont mean to talk about p**p “hey honey guess who ate your other glove! I know who got into the bone meal yesterday, why did you swap from caribou creek to inukshuk, etc”. So here I am, in the woods, on a dog walk, hours before the Iditarod start chasing down p**p and picking it up so I can keep better track of who has p**ped and more so who’s p**p is who’s!

Side note! Kari Hope whom makes our sweaters has a brand new website! Check them out at http://www.snorokk.com lots of pics of us during Iditarod wearing them!

On Wednesday, March 20, 1985, at 9:00 a.m., Libby Riddles became the first woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, the dog-pulling sled race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Riddles checked into Safety, the last checkpoint before the finish line, many hours ahead of her nearest competitor. She raced with a thirteen-dog team through debilitating blizzards in 18 days, 20 minutes, and 17 seconds, and won $50,000. Riddles put the Iditarod on the map with her storybook win and her photo on the magazine covers and front pages of many newspapers. The next three Iditarods also were won by a woman, Susan Butcher, who in 1987, had a then record-breaking time of 11 days, 2 hours, and 5 minutes…
