What is a Wild River National Park with only half of its water?
Three years ago today, we made history by declaring the Vjosa as Europe’s first Wild River National Park. It was a promise to let the river be free.

But new data reveals an invisible crisis. In the peak of summer, when the Vjosa is most vulnerable, nearly 50% of its total flow is being diverted for irrigation and industry.

This isn't just a management issue—it's a violation of international IUCN National Park criteria and UNESCO standards. We are essentially watching a "Dry River National Park" in the making.

We didn't fight to save the Vjosa just to watch it disappear into a pipe. It’s time for transparency, real-time monitoring, and enforcement of the laws meant to protect this river.
