Whale season is almost here!! Each year the whales return to Maui and mommas will birth their babies here in the warm waters. Many people flock to Maui to share the wonders of these amazing whales. You can see them from the beaches as well as the numerous whale watching boats that leave from Kihei and Kannapali. Best whale watching is from mid to end December thru April.

Created by Agricultural Artist and Horticultural Master, Ali’i Chang, AKL’s 13.5-acre farm resides at an elevation of roughly 4000 ft. and is home to approximately 55,000 lavender plants and 45 different varieties of lavender. Olive trees, hydrangea, Protea, succulents and an exceptional variety of other plants can be found on the farm, which offers the first and only Lavender Lifestyle experience on Maui.

Though lavender is not native to Maui, it has acclimated well to the majestic mountain-slope with style and grace. Thriving in Kula’s Mediterranean climate, AKL’s lavender blooms year round in the cool, dry climate.

Gifford Fire Becomes California’s Largest of 2025. 8/8/25 4pm.

The Gifford Fire has officially become California’s first wildfire of 2025 to surpass 100,000+ acres 15% contained, and it now stands as the state’s biggest blaze of the year. Reported on August 1st, the inferno continues to rage across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, drawing in more than 2,000 firefighters from across the region.

Earlier this morning, I spoke with several exhausted crews who had just completed an unreal estimated 54 hour shift alongside countless other firefighters pushing themselves to the limit to protect lives and property.

She is erupting again!!!

Episode 30 vigorous fountaining of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea began at approximately 1:20 a.m. HST on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and is currently producing broad fountains 150-300 feet high from the north vent.
