Next up on our trip was a drive through Valley Forge to see where George Washington and the continental army wintered in 1777while Philadelphia was occupied by the British. The rangers were excellent hosts who shared their knowledge and insights about the encampment, especially highlighting what they knew about the few Georgians who were there.

Next stop on our history and heritage tour, visiting the home of our chapter’s namesake: Fielding Lewis. The home has been restored to look as it would have when Fielding and his wife, Betty, lived there during the American Revolution. We also mucked in and got our hands dirty with a little service project planting flowers in the memorial garden.

Fun fact, Betty Lewis was George Washington’s sister so of course we had to drive up the road to visit Mount Vernon! Sadly, much of the house is under renovation but we had fun sitting out on the backyard.

One of my favorite tours in London is through the Houses of Parliament! If you love history or learning about quirky British traditions, add The Palace of Westminster to your itinerary. Tours run most Saturdays throughout the year and weekdays when Parliament is in recess. Definitely book a guided tour to make the most of the experience!

Feeling the heat as summer continues going strong?

Now's a great time to book a ski vacation for winter break. I highly recommend giving the French Alps a try with one of Club Med's amazing all-inclusive ski resorts. I had the chance to visit two of their resorts in March, and I was super impressed.

What I loved about my all-inclusive ski trip experience . . .

1. Group lessons AND lift tickets included - If you haven't skied in awhile or you're introducing your kids to the sport, you'll love getting the lessons included in your package. You also don't have to sweat the additional cost of lift tickets when you book with Club Med Ski.

2. Storage lockers right on the slopes. You don't have to schlep your skis and boots around the resort, you're assigned a locker slope side for storing all you're gear. Cannot emphasize enough how much I loved this feature.

3. The resorts in general - they offer cozy rooms, space to relax, excellent spa treatments, and great kids' clubs. There's even a different themed show each night.

4. Food, food, and more food - spend your ski trip skiing, not cooking or discussing where you want to eat dinner. Plus, the French take their après-ski very seriously.

5. Those views! The alps are stunning!

Anyone else loving the Olympic surfing in Tahiti?
