One of the most exciting parts of my job is when gator nesting season arrives each year! All the captains gather to locate the gator nests, and we get to see the incubation progress and follow the mother gators' journey until the hatch day. This wonderful opportunity allows us to share knowledge about alligators with guests from around the world. And honestly, nothing melts hearts quite like tiny newly hatched baby gators!

Good morning to all my amazing friends!

I’d like to take a moment to shift my focus from birds of prey to one of Florida's most beloved symbols: the American Alligator!

This year has been fantastic for alligator nesting in the area we tour, and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to watch a new generation of alligators incubate and hatch. As the time for the nests to hatch draws near, I can’t wait to greet all the adorable new additions to our world!

It’s amazing to see the protective instincts of a mother alligator. Mama gators can be quite fierce when it comes to their young, so it’s crucial to give them the space they need! Unfortunately, the odds are tough for these little guys; only about ten percent will make it to adulthood. But that makes witnessing their journey even more special!

Our Story

Our wonderful adventure began 25 years ago at a little known fish camp on Lake Tohopekaliga called East Lake Fish Camp. Airboating on the lake was a way of having fun on the weekends with family and friends. The campers visiting the Fish Camp would see how much fun we were having riding our personal airboat and ask us for rides. It didn’t take long for us to see how much they loved nature as much as we did. We asked our wonderful family to lend us the money to purchase our first airboat and was they were crazy enough to do it. We started with one six-passenger airboat in 1994.

In the beginning we worked 7 days a week, 16 hours a day – including the holidays, without a day off for over two years. We lived walking distance from the Fish Camp, which made it easier, and we would regularly bring home airboat visitors for dinner. There were days in the beginning that we didn’t have any customers and weren’t sure we would make it. Packing meals and eating at the boat dock was common just to have some quality time with the family. The children grew up helping behind the desk, doing homework or spent hours fishing off the dock and collecting frogs and minnows to pass away the time.

It took years of talking to journalists, travel agents and tourists to open up awareness that the headwaters to the Florida Everglades actually start in Orlando. We finally were able to convince visitors to give us a chance to experience the “Real Florida” at Boggy Creek Airboat Rides.

In 2016 we became more than an airboat tour and changed our name to Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures. We made quite a few additions to the park such as a Native American Village, Gem Stone and Fossil Mine, Alligator Oasis, all-terrain bike rentals, covered pavilions, tiki bar, swamp photo shack and a great restaurant – Boggy Bottom BBQ.
