While everyone is heading back to school, savvy travelers are heading to Disney… and saving BIG! 💰

✅ Historically lower crowd levels than peak holiday periods, meaning shorter waits for many attractions. (Reddit)

What surprised me the most about Disneyland? 🤯

We visited on a Saturday—typically one of the busiest days of the week—and we didn’t purchase Lightning Lane. Since we visit Disneyland often and were traveling with a large group, we decided to rely on a good plan instead.

What surprised me most was that almost every attraction we rode had an actual wait that was 10–15 minutes shorter than the posted wait time!

Because of that, we were able to experience everything on our must-do list and even ride several of our favorites more than once.

As a travel planner, I don’t just randomly pick park days. I spend time researching historical crowd levels, seasonal trends, and the best touring strategies before recommending dates to my clients. This trip was a great reminder that doing the research really does pay off.

Does that mean you should never buy Lightning Lane? Not at all. Every family, travel date, and vacation style is different. But choosing the right days to visit can sometimes save your family hundreds of dollars, especially since Lightning Lane costs can really add up when you’re purchasing it for multiple people over several park days.

That’s one of the biggest benefits of working with a travel advisor. My goal isn’t just to book your vacation—it’s to help you maximize your time, make informed decisions, and save money where it makes sense so you can focus on making memories instead of stressing over the details.

🎉 Day 1 at Disney California Adventure is in the books, and it was a success! 🎢☀️

One of the biggest questions I get is, “How do you get so much done?” The answer is all about having a plan!

In our first 3 hours, we accomplished:
✅ Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
✅ WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
✅ Incredicoaster
✅ Toy Story Midway Mania!
✅ Soarin’ Around the World
✅ Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
✅ Radiator Springs Racers

That’s 7 major attractions before 1:00pm 🙌

Along the way, I noticed 3 mistakes I see first-time Disneyland visitors make:

🚫 1. Not having a rope drop strategy.
The first few hours of the day are pure gold! Arriving before the park opens can make all the difference in how much you accomplish.

🥨 2. Spending money on things you can easily bring yourself.
Disneyland has some of the BEST theme park food (and yes… California churros definitely have Florida beat! 😍), so save your money for the treats that are worth it—like churros, Mickey ice cream bars, and the famous Jack-Jack Num Num Cookie. We packed our own water, chips, Goldfish, yogurt, and other snacks instead of paying $5 or more for bottled water and everyday snacks inside the park.

😴 3. Trying to power through when everyone is exhausted.
When the kids start melting down, don’t be afraid to head back to the hotel for a break. We were staying just an 8-minute walk from the parks, so taking time to swim, rest, and recharge made a huge difference. By the evening, everyone was refreshed and ready to enjoy the nighttime entertainment—and trust me, you don’t want to miss those shows!

This is exactly why I love helping families plan Disney vacations. A little strategy before your trip means less stress, shorter waits, and more magical memories. ✨
