Why Cool Kids’ Summer might be my new favorite time to visit Disney World! ☀️🏰

For years, I heard the same thing: “Don’t go to Disney World in the summer—the heat will ruin your trip!”

And honestly? We believed it.

Like many families, we have to plan vacations around the school calendar, which usually means spring break, Christmas, or other peak travel weeks. We’ve always tried to avoid the summer heat at all costs.

But last week, while in Orlando for a conference, my husband and I spent a few days in the parks—and we left saying, “This is exactly when we’ll bring our family next time.”

Here’s why:

✨ 1. The prices.
Y’all… the savings are real. A summer trip can cost significantly less than a spring break or Christmas vacation. Resort rates are lower, the 4-Park Magic Ticket is an incredible value, guests receive free water park admission on check-in day, and kids ages 3–9 can still receive the Disney Dining Plan FREE when adults purchase a dining plan package.

🎢 2. The crowds.
Were the parks empty? No. But compared to holiday weeks, the crowd levels felt so much more manageable. We were able to accomplish more in less time and spent far less of our day waiting in lines.

🎉 3. The vibes.
Disney has really leaned into summer fun this year with extra entertainment, special character experiences, dance parties, and interactive activities throughout the parks. The energy was fantastic, and it felt like there was something fun happening everywhere we turned.

My takeaway?

Summer might be one of Disney World’s most underrated seasons.

Yes, it’s hot. But with the right game plan, the heat is absolutely manageable—and the lower prices, lighter crowds, and extra summer experiences may make it worth it.

If you’ve been putting off a Disney vacation because of the cost of spring break or holiday travel, let’s talk. I can help you plan a trip that maximizes the magic and minimizes the stress. ✨

I’ve been anxiously waiting to try out the newly updated Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster starring the Muppets, and I finally got the chance last week.

Y’all… it was a 10/10.

It absolutely did not disappoint. The updates are fantastic, the Muppets fit perfectly, and it’s every bit as fun as I hoped it would be.

If you’re planning a Hollywood Studios day, this should be at the top of your priority list!

Annie Jett has been watching Pocahontas on repeat lately. She’s even memorized every word to Colors of the Wind, so meeting Pocahontas was at the very top of our character meet-and-greet list on our last trip. 🤎

I feel like she’s one of those rare characters you don’t get to see everywhere, which made this interaction feel extra special. Right now you can find her meeting guests in the Oasis at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

We got to chat with her about what Meeko had been up to, and she even let the girls pick out a flower to take with them. It was such a sweet little moment.

The 90’s kid in me was loving this. ✨

Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is such a unique experience — not exactly what you expect from a typical theme park attraction.

It’s one of our favorite ways to slow down a little and take a break from the normal hustle and bustle of a Disney World vacation.

We almost always grab this as one of our prebooked Lightning Lanes so we can ride first thing in the morning when the animals are usually the most active.

If you don’t have a Lightning Lane and this is a must do for your family, I recommend heading there at the start of the day. The safari itself isn’t open during early entry, but guests start lining up during that time, which gives you a great head start before the wait times climb.

Do I pay for character dining so my kid can eat the inside of a roll? Yep.

Will I do it again? Also yes.

Because one day soon she’ll stop showing Cinderella her princess twirl… but until she does, I’m going to keep making the memories. ✨

Did you know there are so many fun things to do at Disney World besides rides? One of my kids’ favorite things is getting their faces painted in the parks! 🎨✨

For my 4 year old, it’s a must-do every trip. It usually costs around $30, and honestly, I just plan for it in our budget because she loves it so much.

One of our favorite strategies is to do face painting during rider swap for rides she isn’t tall enough for yet. There’s a great spot near Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios, and it helps keep her happy and entertained while she waits. She feels like she got her own special Disney experience instead of missing out on the fun.

Last trip, we also did face painting in Animal Kingdom between our Lightning Lanes for Kilimanjaro Safaris and Festival of the Lion King. The location in the Africa section is super convenient if you’re spending time in that area of the park!

Sometimes the little extras end up being the most magical memories. ✨

The Nick & Judy meet and greet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a 10/10, y’all 🦊🐰

There’s a reason the line gets LONG for this one—it instantly made our favorites list!

They start greeting right at park opening, but the line actually starts forming during early entry 👀

If you want to save time, either:
👉 head there first thing
👉 or go straight there after your first ride of the day

10 HOURS at Magic Kingdom ⏰✨
Using Early Entry + Lightning Lanes + Wait Magic

Early Entry: 8:30 AM | Park Open: 9:00 AM

Here’s exactly how our day played out 👇
✨ 6:45 am – Art of Animation Bus Stop
✨ 7:45 am – Scanned into turnstiles
✨ Potty stop at the Rapunzel bathrooms
✨ 8:00 am – In line for Peter Pan’s Flight
✨ 8:20 am – Peter Pan’s Flight
✨ 8:30 am – Prince Charming Regal Carousel
✨ 8:40 am – Dumbo & Barnstormer
✨ 8:50 am – Mad Tea Cups
✨ 8:55 am – Lightning Lane: Journey of the Little Mermaid
✨ 9:05 am – Breakfast at Gaston’s Tavern + bathroom break
✨ 9:30 am – Haunted Mansion
✨ 10:00 am – It’s a Small World
✨ 10:30 am – Lightning Lane: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
✨ 11:00 am – Lightning Lane: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
✨ 11:15 am – Picked up mobile order lunch at Sleepy Hollow
✨ 11:30 am – Grabbed a parade spot in Frontierland + ate lunch
✨ 12:00 pm – Festival of Fantasy Parade
✨ 12:20 pm – Lightning Lane: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
✨ 1:30 pm – Magic Carpets of Aladdin (20 min wait)
✨ Snack break at Sunshine Tree Terrace 🍊
✨ 3:00 pm – Lightning Lane: TRON
💡 We used Rider Swap here — my husband and I took turns riding with our oldest while the other took our youngest to ride PeopleMover + meet Chip 🐿️
✨ 3:45 pm – Lightning Lane: Space Mountain

🌧️ We had Lightning Lanes for Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise from 4:00–5:00 pm, but it started POURING.

We took cover at Pinocchio Village Haus and had dinner, but the radar showed storms the rest of the night.
✨ 6:00 pm – Back on the bus to our resort

This is what an early start + a solid plan can do 👏
Rides, snacks, parade, and built-in breaks — all before dinner!

Packing a Walt Disney World park bag as a mom is truly a balancing act — because there’s a fine line between being prepared and feeling like you packed for a week-long camping trip. 😅

After lots of Disney trips with kids, these are the things I pack in my park bag every single time:

✨ Refillable water bottles — filled with ice, water, and Liquid I.V. to start the day hydrated
🕶️ Sunglasses
☀️ Sunscreen — I refill my Solar Buddies each night for easy park-day reapplication
👒 Scalp sunscreen
💋 Chapstick
🌦️ Rain gear — stroller cover, ponchos, shoe covers, umbrellas
🧴 Hand sanitizer, wet wipes, Kleenex
💊 Mini medicine kit — headaches, nausea, bandaids, Neosporin
🍿 Snacks for the kids
✍️ Autograph books + retractable pens (characters will thank you!)
🎀 Small brush + hair ties (girl mom life 🙋🏻‍♀️)
🧼 Make-up wipes
👓 Glasses + contact case/solution
🥤 Plastic straws — because toddlers and paper straws are not a good combo
🛍️ Gallon Ziploc bags — perfect for saving leftover toddler snacks before the meltdown hits 🙃
👕 Extra clothes for my littlest — because getting peed on during Pirates of the Caribbean taught me this lesson the hard way
🧦 Extra socks for everyone
🎨 Coloring books, slime, and glow sticks — lifesavers for lines and parades
🧒 Toddler leash — judge me if you want, but I know my child 😅
🔋 Portable phone charger
🌀 Handheld fan (bonus points if it mists!)
⚡️ And most importantly… an Aulani

Trust me: having the right things in your bag can make or break your Disney day. A little prep goes a long way when you’re chasing magic with kids. ✨🏰
