Lake Junaluska is now home to six new dedicated pickleball courts, which are open and ready for play.
Thanks to charitable giving and a grant-funded partnership between Haywood County and Lake Junaluska, the project increases local opportunities for pickleball players of all levels to pursue the fast-paced, high-energy game.
“This is a big deal for our community and the entire Southeast,” said Ken Howle, executive director of Lake Junaluska. “The upgraded facilities will allow us to host multiday tournaments and camps, bringing significant economic and social benefits to Haywood County.”
Lake Junaluska is also home to four tennis courts, which can be temporarily converted to pickleball courts as needed.
The pickleball court expansion project will also include upgrades to the adjacent public bathrooms, which will enhance the player, spectator and visitor experience.
