Day 8- We arrived in the cute little village of Skagway! The morning started off cold and rainy but then cleared into a really nice day. Some of our crew rented a car and drove the scenic White Pass and Yukon Highway that stretches through the Yukon into Canada. A popular excursion is the White Pass Yukon Railroad roundtrip from Skagway.
The rest of us got off the ship and explored this fun gold rush town with boarded sidewalks along the old main street shops, hotels and the old time brothels.
We had a great lunch at the local brewery established in 1897.

Day 7– we arrived in Juneau! It was an early port arrival of 7:00 am and we hit the ground running.
We rented a car for the day for part of our group. We drove the short drive to Mendenhall Glacier 🧊 and we had the waterfall and the glacier lookout to ourselves!
After lunch we stopped in to the famous Tracy’s King Crab shack. There are actually two locations in Juneau- we stopped at the second location a little further away from the cruise port—with 4 cruise ships in port we made the right decision and had no crazy line! The crab legs and crab cakes were amazing! 🤤
We did a little port shopping and exploring.
The other half of our crew went whale watching- they saw lots of whales and wildlife and really enjoyed the excursion.

A fun note about Juneau- it’s the capital of Alaska but there are no roads into the city- it is only accessible by boat or plane!

Day 6 our ship stopped at Icy Straight Point. This island is home to the small town of Hoonah and they have collaborated with the cruise lines to create a cruise port. Beautiful tram ride through the forest or if you’re brave you can zip line down the mountain!

Day 5- first day at sea was to the Hubbard Glacier. Our weather started off sunny and warm but unfortunately the fog set in and we weren’t able to see the glacier. We explored the ship and took in the beautiful coastline.

Day 4…. I’m a little behind as when you are in America’s last frontier cell phone service is pretty much non-existent!
We left Denali early in the morning on our tour bus for a beautiful drive south through the Denali National Park and into Anchorage. The weather was rainy and foggy so pictures weren’t easy to get.
We had lunch on our own and then made our way to our cruise ship! It was a rainy embarkation but our cruise part of the trip on the NCL Jade officially began!
