Billy Price, “Keystone King of Soul,”and BCBS
Pittsburgh's Billy Price first performed for BCBS at the Club Capri in Levittown, 5/30/79, for our “Blue Wednesday” series. Since then Billy has performed several times in each decade. He's performed at Halloween shows, R&B Picnics, club performances, Spring Fever and Fall Footstompers, and others. He is one of most beloved and requested performers in the 49 year history of BCBS. He also performed at the wedding reception of Tom and Maureen Cullen, 8/1/82, along with the Juke Rockers, and at a private party the next day. Billy Price returns on Sunday 4/26 at 2:00 pm (Terchon VFW, 1315 Hardy St., Levittown) for the “Soul Sound Spectacular #2” along with Philly's King Groove as openers. Forty years ago Billy's friend, prime influence, and mentor Otis Clay, “The King of Chicago Soul,” headlined the first “Soul Sound Spectacular” with Jr. Cline and the Recliners opening. Otis Clay went on to perform at the 1987 R&B Picnic, the 1990 Spring Fever Footstomper, and the 1993 Halloween show. Otis and Billy's album This Time for Real was released in 2015. (Sadly, Otis passed away in 2016. ) Billy's latest album Random Madness (his 19th and brilliant follow up to 2024's Person of Interest) will be available for purchase on 4/26 as will event T-Shirts that replicate the first “Soul Sound Spectacular” T-Shirt. Tix are going fast. Soul Music: the deeper you go the better it feels. Be there or be L-7.
