Last week, Governor Andy Beshear announced that 2025 was the best year ever for Kentucky Tourism, receiving 81.1 million travelers to the commonwealth and generating a state-wide economic impact of $14.6 billion, 30% of which Louisville was responsible for.

"Tourism is about more than visitation–it's about telling Kentucky's story. A strong tourism industry highlights our people, our culture, and our authentic visitor experiences," said Louisville Tourism CEO Cleo Battle.

A passionate and enthusiastic advocate of tourism in Louisville, Battle's commitment and leadership has had a transformative impact on the hospitality and meetings industry. Earlier this month, Battle was named the 2026 recipient of Meeting Professionals International - MPI's Industry Leader Award at the World Education Congress for helping to "lead meaningful industry evolution—expanding the focus beyond visitor numbers to broader economic and community impact—while championing greater representation and opportunity for diverse professionals and businesses," (The Lane Report).

May featured two signature events at the Louisville Tourism offices, the bimonthly Hospitality Showcase and the fifth session of Louisville Tourism Unlocked.

The Hospitality Showcase featured several businesses presenting their products and services to staff from multiple departments and always proves to be extremely beneficial for everyone present.

Unlocked V featured Doug Bennett, Executive Vice President and Jason Sojka, Vice President of Convention Sales both pulling back the curtain on the strategies, partnerships, and outreach efforts helping drive group business and visitation to the city. From targeting key markets to building relationships and securing bookings, this session offered an inside look at the work behind bringing meetings and conventions to Louisville.

A longtime community staple, Business After Hours, was revived this year after a six-year hiatus—reimagined as the Louisville Hospitality Expo, presented by Millennium Events and Floral.

This lively hospitality and tourism tradeshow, open to both industry professionals and the public, featured 78 exhibitors across two floors and welcomed 700+ attendees.

Beyond the countless connections made, many prizes were given away—most notably a $500 Visa gift card and a pair of airline tickets to any of the 41 nonstop destinations from SDF, courtesy of the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport - SDF.

Thank you to our sponsors: Millennium Events and Floral, Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport - SDF, Transit Authority of River City (TARC), The Louisville Palace - Premium Seating, Musselman Hotels, and Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft at BBC.

And a special thank you to our venue and host, Old Forester's Paristown Hall/Kentucky Performing Arts.

We're proud to bring this tradition back to life and look forward to building on its momentum in the years ahead.
