While visiting the 2.5 miles Hammonasset Beach State Park, don't forget to stop by the Meigs Point Nature Center. There are tons of native animals including crabs, turtles, snakes and over seven native species of frogs. It's one of the most extensive native reptile collections in Connecticut. Over 100 pounds of trash removed from our shoreline yesterday! ๐Ÿ’™ A huge thank you to the 65 volunteers who came out for Coastal Cleanup Day, including 13 students from a local school. Together, they collected everything from cigarette butts and small debris to broken cinder blocks and even a buoy!

Thatโ€™s more than 100 pounds of trash that is no longer on our beaches or making its way into Long Island Sound. Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped make a difference. Your time and hard work help keep Hammonasset Beach State Park cleaner and safer for both people and wildlife. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿข

Join the Friends of Hammonasset, Meigs Point Nature Center, and Save the Sound for the International Coastal Cleanup this Saturday at 10am!

Spend the morning making a difference for our shoreline and the wildlife of Long Island Sound. Come on your own, bring the family, or gather a group. All volunteers are welcome! Meet at the Meigs Point Nature Center at 10am. All cleaning supplies will be provided.
