JUST IN: According to Visit Mesa's Cougar Shadow Index, the September 2026 Cougar Shadow has predicated that Summer is here to stay a while longer.

About the Index:
During the 7 night viewing window during the September appearance, Visit Mesa tracks how many times the shadow appears. Four or more clear sightings predict that summer weather will linger, while three or fewer sightings (often due to monsoon clouds) signal that cooler fall conditions are closer.
