We celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, and the 20th anniversary of Chatsworth becoming ‘Pemberley’ for Joe Wright’s 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

The publication of MANSFIELD PARK was first announced in "The Star" in 1814. While working on the novel, Austen wrote in a letter to her brother Frank, “I have something in hand—which I hope on the credit of P. & P. will sell well, tho’ not half so entertaining.” In fact, the first edition sold out in six months.
