Her Wilderness lost one of our family members this week. For those who have joined us on our waterfowl hunts, you may remember Jace, Jace the Goggle Dog, or as many of us lovingly knew him, Doodle. 💕
Jace wasn’t just a great retriever. He became a little piece of so many women’s Her Wilderness memories. Over the years, he retrieved countless birds, but perhaps some of his most special retrieves were the ones that brought back a woman’s very first bird.
For many first-time hunters, that moment of watching Jace bring their bird back was a moment they’ll never forget. And now, those memories will carry an even deeper meaning.
Dogs have a way of becoming part of our stories without ever asking for a thing in return. They show up, do their job, make us laugh, steal our hearts, a few of our blind snacks, and somehow become family along the way.
We know our time with our fur babies are never long enough. But we are so grateful Jace got to be part of ours, and that so many of you got to know, love, and hunt alongside him.
We’ll miss you, Jace. More than you’ll ever know.
We hope every one of you gets the chance to love, and be loved, by a fur baby as special as Jace. 🩵
