Dolphins on the bow at twilight on our offshore leg from Saint Augustine to Charleston.
Wanted to share the energy and excitement when we see the dolphins approach from the side and jump all the way out of the water to catch a free bow ride!
So grateful for the opportunity to see these special dolphin as we were just getting into our nightwatch schedule of 3hrs on watch at the helm and 3 hrs off for some brief rest and sleep. This encounter sure kept us up buzzing and talking about the amazing life of an offshore pelagic dolphin in the ocean along the south Atlantic coast.....

Where do they sleep? When do they sleep? Are they site specific to ocean mounts or offshore reefs? Do they migrate north or south? Do they feed on fish in deep water or on schools of fish near the surface? After a good bow ride, do they go back to their "spot" in the ocean? Or do they keep moving?
