Everyone is welcome to join us for Myrtle Beach’s America 250: Red, White and Remember Parade and Picnic TOMORROW, May 23!

Bring the whole family to celebrate Myrtle Beach’s military heritage. The parade begins at Johnson Avenue and Farrow Parkway and ends at Phillis Boulevard and Farrow Parkway. This year’s grand marshal is former Myrtle Beach Mayor and World War II Veteran, Robert Hirsch. The honorary grand marshal is Vietnam War era veteran, Thomas Piotrowski. The parade will be emceed by Ed Piotrowski.

The best viewing sight for the parade will be on the Grand Park side along Farrow Parkway. You may wish to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the parade and picnic.

Plan to stick around afterwards for the family picnic! This year's celebration welcomes the Parris Island Marine Band, Revolutionary War reenactors, Long Bay Symphony, vendors and a free hamburger and hot dog lunch.

Upcoming History Program in Conway!

The Horry County Museum, in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and the South Carolina 250th Commission, invites you to a special program on Saturday, May 9, at 1 PM.

Historian Lori Glover will present on women in South Carolina and their war for independence.

Lorri Glover is the John Francis Bannon Endowed Chair in the History Department at Saint Louis University. She is the author of Founders as Fathers: The Private Lives and Politics of the American Revolutionaries, The Fate of the Revolution: Virginians Debate the Constitution, and Eliza Lucas Pinckney: An Independent Woman in the Age of Revolution.
