Welcome Butch Wilmore to JRA Speakers!✨

Barry “Butch” Wilmore, U.S. Navy Captain (Ret.) and NASA astronaut, has flown three space missions and spent 464 days in orbit. A Tennessee native and Tennessee Tech graduate, he is a test pilot with over 8,000 flight hours and 663 carrier landings. He piloted the Space Shuttle Atlantis, commanded the International Space Station, and most recently led Boeing’s Starliner on its first crewed flight—a mission planned for eight days that stretched into nine months.

Known for his humility, steady leadership, and deep faith in Jesus Christ, Butch speaks worldwide on perseverance, leadership under pressure, and the majesty of creation that points to the Creator.

Welcome to JRA Speakers!⛳️

Dottie Pepper is a 17-time winner on the LPGA tour, including two major championships. She also won once on the JLPGA Tour and represented the U.S. 6 times in the Solheim Cup, compiling a 13-5-2 record, including 5-1 in singles play.

She played the LPGA Tour from 1988 until her retirement in 2004 when she began a career in television that has covered every major in men’s golf and nearly every major in women’s professional golf. She has also covered every major international amateur golf competition. She was the first woman to announce live golf at The Masters beginning in 2016 and in 2020 became the first walking reporter to cover that same event.

Dottie served 3 years as an Independent Director on the PGA of America Board of Directors and was the 2016 William D. Richardson Award winner, given by the Golf Writers Association of America for continuing contributions to golf and the 2021 Gold Tee winner, given by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association for career achievements that exemplify the best spirit and traditions of the sport of golf. In 2024 she was the recipient of the Old Tom Morris Award from the GCSAA, recognizing a lifetime commitment to the game of golf, the Women’s Western Golf Association “Woman of Distinction” award winner, the Bel-Air CC “Friends of Golf” honoree and Cynopsis Media Award winner for game changing on-air talent.

Dottie is currently the lead walking reporter for CBS Sports’ coverage of the PGA Tour, PGA Championship and Masters. She is also the author of the self-published book and audiobook, “Letters to a Future Champion: My Time with Mr. Pulver”.

Meet David and Helen Smallbone🇦🇺✨

David and Helen Smallbone came to America by way of Australia in 1991, in tow with their six children and one on the way when a financial crisis in their homeland sent them looking for a new beginning in Nashville, Tennessee. They are speakers, advocates of Jesus and the local church, and parents cheering on their seven children- three of which are four-time GRAMMY award winning artists Joel and Luke Smallbone of for KING + COUNTRY, and GRAMMY award winning artist Rebecca St. James.

David is a lifelong veteran of the music industry, and continues to manage for KING + COUNTRY to this day. Helen is an author, podcaster, and the co-founder of MUMlife, a ministry of “mothers uplifting mothers” and encouraging women in motherhood. UNSUNG HERO, a film depicting the trials and triumphs of the Smallbone family’s journey to the USA, released theatrically nationwide with Lionsgate in April 2024. They currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee where they spend their time chasing grandchildren and looking after a small menagerie of farm animals.

Sam Gore has been a play by play commentator and studio host at ESPN for over 20 years. He has called every major tennis event around the world, the Olympic Games, and regularly announces NCAA sports such as indoor and beach volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, tennis and the Little League World Series. Past sports he has announced at ESPN include college football, softball, baseball, swimming and diving, track and field, Professional Bull Riding, mixed martial arts and golf.

Sam currently hosts studio coverage during the Grand Slam tennis majors, as well as during the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships. He is the host of “The 5th Set”, a whip around show during the Women’s NCAA Volleyball Championships, and will be hosting a new whip-around show during Grand Slam tennis coverage.

Sam is a passionate follower of Jesus and loves to express the distinction between being a Christian and a disciple. Being in the high pressure, high intensity, and highly scrutinized profession of sports television has forced Sam to make several critical decisions and form a lifestyle that allows him to thrive as a disciple of Jesus in a profession that is very secular. He loves to share the journey God has taken him on during his career. One of the blessings of being an announcer at ESPN for so many years is the people he gets to work with.

He is considered one of the most self disciplined people in his industry, and is often approached by co-workers, friends and strangers asking him for advice in the areas of mind, body and spirit. Sam has a different take on self-discipline and wise decision making. He believes they flow more naturally and become permanent when you absorb your true identity: how God actually sees you, what He truthfully thinks about you, as well as having the correct view of God.
