Deep underground in New Orleans rests an abandoned cold war fallout shelter constructed in 1962 and left to decay in the mid 90s. It remains flooded and abandoned to this day and when it was open could house 200-300 people (mostly city officials and law enforcement). I was very lucky to get inside this place when the massive bomb proof door made of reinforced steel, concrete, and many other materials was left open for some reason. These pictures were taken a while back and the door has since been resealed and welded shut. In some spots water reaches your chest and smells heavily of diesel fuel probably from all the generators. Easily a top 5 favorite explore in New Orleans!

An abandoned mental health facility that has been decaying for many years located right outside of New Orleans. Not many people know about this location due to the front of it being open and having been repurposed. Many of the structures and buildings behind the part that’s have been renovated still sit abandoned and decaying. The facility covers many acres and features many buildings with different services from administration to lodging and even recreational areas.

Founded in the early 1800’s it was the oldest continuous African American church in the state of Louisiana and what a beauty she was. The amazing stained glass pianos and wood that lined this amazing church was beautiful. Exploring here was difficult due to the active neighborhood it’s in, but was well worth the amazing shots.

Abandoned house on a hill in the middle of nowhere. This is a great example of how to find cool abandoned buildings as when I found this I was just driving looking around. I looked up on a hill and saw this house covered in vines. The driveway that was nothing more than rocks and mud stretched far up to the house. It was a great day to shoot this beauty!

While exploring an abandoned asylum I ran into some vending machines on the second floor. These vending machines were dated back to late 80’s maybe even earlier. Rats had eaten through some of the snacks and even the soda cans which I’m guessing is why they were all ripped open. Notice the Doritos logo that looks very retro. Some say the Doritos might still be edible!!!
