The Costa Brava in October is a different place entirely.

The crowds are gone, the light is softer, and the water is still warm enough to swim. Small fishing villages like Cadaqués, Calella de Palafrugell or Begur slow down to their natural rhythm — terraces open, locals return, and you can actually hear the sea.

It's the same dramatic coastline of rugged cliffs, hidden coves and crystal-clear water. Just without the wait.

If you've only seen the Costa Brava in summer, you haven't really seen it.

Inside this medieval tower, a forbidden love story ended in tragedy — and her ghost is said to still wander the halls. 👻

In the 11th century, the daughter of the Lord of Cardona fell in love with a Muslim prince. Their families forbade it, so the two met secretly inside the castle walls. When they were discovered, she was locked away forever in what is now known as the Torre de la Minyona — the Maiden's Tower — and died there, alone.

To this day, locals say her spirit still walks the castle at night, waiting to be reunited with the love she was never allowed to keep.

🍂 Fall has arrived in Val d'Aran — and it looks like this.

Every October, the forests of this Pyrenean valley turn gold, orange and red, making it one of the best places in Catalunya to experience autumn colors. Add snow-capped peaks, stone villages and crisp mountain air, and you've got a pretty solid reason to book that trip.

Val d'Aran is also one of the few places in Europe with its own language — Aranese — and a food scene built around hearty mountain classics like olla aranesa and locally sourced game. The kind of place where you eat well, sleep well and come back with better photos than you expected.

🏛️ If you're in Barcelona around October 3-4, clear your schedule.

Just an hour south of the city, Tarragona hosts one of the most unique things you'll ever witness in Europe — a Castellers competition at the Tarraco Arena.

Teams of hundreds of people lock together to build human towers up to nine stories tall, lifting the smallest members all the way to the top. No ropes, no nets, no safety gear. Just strength, balance and an insane amount of trust.

It's been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010 — and seeing it live is a completely different experience from watching it on a screen.

🎉 Consider this your sign to book a trip to Tarragona next September.

Every year, the city shuts down for the Festa Major de Santa Tecla — one of the oldest and most spectacular popular festivals in Catalunya, dating back to the 13th century. Giants, fire runs, human towers, processions and a city that throws itself into celebration for an entire week.

This isn't a tourist show. This is Tarragona doing what it has done for over 700 years — and letting everyone watch.

They call it "the balcony of Catalunya" — and once you see it, you'll understand why. 🏔️⛪

The Santuari de Queralt sits at nearly 4,000 feet above sea level above the town of Berga, with views stretching from the Pyrenees all the way to Montserrat — and on the clearest days, the Mediterranean coast.

The sanctuary dates back to the 14th century, built where a shepherd supposedly found a Gothic statue of the Virgin hidden in a cave. Every time he tried to take it home, it mysteriously reappeared in the same spot. So they built a sanctuary around it instead.
