Today's port stop: Ibiza! Toured the island in a Jeep then stopped at one of their many beaches for a swim and some tapas. And Sangria. It IS Spain after all...

Also saw homes of the rich and famous - including Michael Douglas, Justin Bieber, JLo, Giorgio Armani, Messi and more...

Today's port stop on the Circle of Excellence Cruise: Mallorca, Spain. Fred McFarlin came here as a kid with his family so it was a bit of a "homecoming". We left the port and went up to the mountains to visit a couple of beautiful Mallorcan villages and, of course, have some tapas and sangria

On the trail of Vincent Van Gogh... Today's adventure began with a port stop in Marseille, then a drive north through the French countryside to two Provencal towns - Arles and St. Remy. We toured Roman ruins but mainly went to see some of the places where Van Gogh painted some of his most famous pieces, including the hospital where he was admitted after severing his ear, and the asylum he committed himself to - where he painted Starry, Starry Night.

No, we didn't jump to Wyoming or Colorado. Today's cruise stop was Corsica, France. Last time here we spent a leisurely afternoon touring the countryside and sampling local foods at a scenic restaurant. This time we were a little more adventurous: Les Gorges de la Spelunca, The Spelunca Gorges. Located about 90 miles north of the port city of Ajaccio, getting there requires a white knuckle ride on a narrow, twisty, mountain road ("Scariest drive I've ever been on!" - Georgia). What you see when you get there is an awe-inspiring series of granite cliffs that rise almost 3000 feet above the sea.

Along the way we stopped at two picturesque Corsican towns for coffee and croissants in one, wine and bruschetta in the other...

Rome, Italy's cruise port is 45 minutes away in Civittaveccia. We've been here several times but only on the way to a ship. This time, we decided to skip Rome altogether and spend a night in this pretty port city instead. After crashing for a couple hours in our hotel, as we usually do after a transatlantic flight, we went out and explored.
