Our GlobalOkie Travel Bali Adventure trip with the Bali Institute just keeps bringing the awesome!

Started our day on a beautiful Herbal Walk with a wonderful local herbalist, Made. He was a wealth of enthusiasm and knowledge, and we all enjoyed learning about just a few of the thousands of plants Bali produces and the traditional and modern uses of these products. A stop at a small, family hut selling fresh (and delicious!) coconut juice and some really beautifully made crafts was a highlight for sure!

Our second stop was Gunung Kawi Sabatu temple where we took part in a water purification ceremony in a temple complex that dates back over a thousand years. The shrines, natural spring waters, lotus blossoms, ducks and swans made for a humbling, yet tranquil setting. The rain failed to deter our appreciation of this incredible setting and ceremony.

We loaded up, a bit damp, into our trusty mini-bus and drove to Kintamani,which sets in the mountains (actually along the rim of the old volcanic caldera, appx 4900’) where we had a fantastic Thai lunch at Lunamoon overlooking Mt Batur and its awesome caldera, lake, and lava field. We spent the afternoon at Bali Beans Coffee farm, where they grow fruits, vanilla, and of course lush Arabica coffee plants. We learned about the growing and harverting processes, and had a wonderful time tasting and cupping several of their single origin coffees and blends.

Another wonderful day of fun and learning!

GlobalOkie Travel Bali Adventure 2025 - Days 1 & 2:

All travelers arrived safe and sound into Denpasar and were transfered to our serene and beautiful villas just outside of Ubud. We had a lovely welcome dinner with two fantastic Balinese dancers and settled in for a restful night.

After an impressive breakfast on Day 2, our two Bali Institute local guides introduced us to Balinese geography, religion, lifestyle, and culture. Following lunch we enjoyed familiarizing ourselves with a local “banjar” or neighborhood governance system that organizes communities and deals with issues such as births/deaths, festivals, and other cultural and religious affairs. We got the opportunity to participate in a few workshops such as wood carving, dancing, music, and offering making, which we took to a local temple for a welcome ceremony.

As the sun was setting over rice fields, we enjoyed a wonderful family-style group dinner at Ubud Udang, then back to the villas (or put on the town) for rest or to make massage appointments.

Excellent start to what should be an amazing trip in a gorgeous country! 🏝️

🌍 Tanzania Safari 2026 – Now Enrolling! 🦁

After returning from an unforgettable East Africa safari a few weeks ago, I was thrilled by how many people reached out saying, “I want to go next year!” There was just one problem… I didn’t have a 2026 safari on my calendar. 😢

But great news — that’s no longer the case! 😊
GlobalOkie Travel is now officially enrolling for a June 20–28, 2026 safari adventure in Tanzania!

This once-in-a-lifetime journey includes:
• Game drives with incredible wildlife and birds
• A visit to a working coffee farm ☕
• Cultural experiences at a Maasai village
• Exploring the stunning Ngorongoro Crater
• Optional hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti 🌅

Worried about heat or bugs? Don’t be! Despite being very near the equator, we’ll be at a nice elevation — we’ll enjoy sunny skies, crisp mornings in the 50s, and afternoons in the low 70s. I’m not sure I saw a mosquito the entire trip!

Spots are limited to just 18 travelers, and it will sell out fast, so talk to friends and family, or come solo, but sogn up soon!
