Where were you on September 11, 2001?
That morning, I was driving my Jeep to work at Hallmark Creations in Oakland Township, listening to the radio when I heard that a plane had struck the North Tower at 8:46 a.m.
When I arrived at work, I grabbed the antenna for the children’s television on our sales floor and turned on the news. At 9:03 a.m., I watched in horror as the second plane struck the South Tower.
I watched first responders run toward the towers as everyone else tried to escape. I saw people jumping. I heard the screaming. Then, at 9:59 a.m., the South Tower fell. The North Tower followed at 10:28 a.m. Nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives that day.
I remember crying as I called my mom.
I stayed at work that day, but we didn’t have a single customer. We spent the entire day watching the coverage, trying to understand what had happened.
Twenty-five years later, I can still picture it all so clearly. I will never forget where I was, what I saw or how it felt. And I will never forget the innocent lives lost, the families forever changed and the heroes who ran toward unimaginable danger. 🇺🇸
