The free community event is part of Okeechobee County’s “A Century of History: 1926–2026” celebration commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Historic Courthouse.

Throughout the day, the courthouse will be open to the public with historical exhibits, County department displays, family-friendly activities, courthouse tours and opportunities to learn more about the people, events and public service that have shaped Okeechobee County over the past century.

The Okeechobee County Historical Society will also participate in the celebration, showcasing local history and helping visitors discover the stories behind Okeechobee County’s past.

Built in 1926, the Historic Courthouse has stood at the center of Okeechobee County government and community life for generations. A century later, the landmark continues to serve the citizens of Okeechobee County.

“This celebration is an opportunity to open the doors of the Historic Courthouse and invite our community to experience 100 years of Okeechobee County history,” said County Administrator Jessica Bezares. “We hope residents of all ages will join us as we honor the people who came before us, celebrate the community we serve today and look toward Okeechobee County’s future.”
