Seasons are changing. The month is almost over. That means new schedules, new goals.

One thing that actually helps? Having art near my workspace keeps me grounded and inspired.

If you’ve never added art to your creative corner or home office, now’s the perfect time to try it. What kind of energy would you want it to bring?

Choosing large art for your living room isn't just about scale. It's about anchoring the entire space.

If you've ever felt like your living room lacks a focal point, this is the fix.

Anchoring artwork is unforgettable. While bigger artwork can be an investment, it can also instantly elevate the sophisticated feel of the place it lives.

Considering something larger? Shoot me a message, let's go over it together.

This is, “Short-billed Dowitcher in High Key.”

A friend and I went on a Puffin cruise on Tuesday afternoon with Puget Sound Express. We left from Edmonds. I went all the way to Alaska to see puffins and I can see them here! We had a marvelous time; it was puffin heaven. There were tons of tufted puffins. We saw lots of other birds. A lifer for me was the rhinoceros auklet. A surprise sighting was a northern sea otter. Here are two puffin pictures. Which do you like better?

I’m one of those people who needs their space to feel right before I can focus.

That’s why I love making art for creative corners, home offices, and workspaces that need a little energy.

So many night sky opportunities in August. There perseid meteor showers are occurring and now a black moon. I hope you can find a spot to observe and take pictures. I'm going to use my lunar eclipse settings and adjust from there. My settings for eclipse were: ISO 1250, Aperture f/6.3, Shutter Speed 0.4 seconds. You might want to start with the ISO at 1600 and shutter speed at 1/10 s. If your pictures are still to dark. Try decreasing the shutter speed. I would start at 5 s, then 10 s, then 15 s, then 20 s, and last 25 s. Still too dark, set the ISO to 3200. Still too dark, double the ISO again. Have fun.

A Rare Black Moon is Coming This August!

On August 22–23 (depending on where you are), the skies will host a special astronomical event — a seasonal Black Moon. This happens when there are four new moons in one season, and this third one is the rare guest, appearing only once every 33 months.

During this phase, the Moon will be hidden completely from sight, its dark side turned toward us. While the Moon itself won’t be visible, the absence of its glow means the night sky will be at its darkest, offering incredible stargazing opportunities.

Best viewing times:

August 22 – Western US & Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, parts of Mexico, Pacific islands

August 23 – Eastern/Central US, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand

Find a spot far from city lights and enjoy one of nature’s rarest sky shows. The Moon may be hidden, but the universe will be shining brighter than ever.
