Well… we did a thing 🐋 🛳️

After years of booking Alaska cruises and land tours for our clients, Erica and I finally decided it was time to see what all the fuss is about for ourselves.

This July, we’re sailing Alaska aboard Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady! 🐋

A few important facts:

✨ Erica has been to Alaska before. I have not.
✨ We are both ridiculously excited about whale watching.
✨ I love fishing and Erica has never been fishing.
✨ Erica has also threatened to show up dressed like the Gorton’s Fisherman, and honestly, I haven’t stopped laughing since she said it. If you see a woman wandering around Alaska in a yellow rain slicker looking like she’s about to sell frozen fish sticks, mind your business. 😂🎣

We’ll be sailing through the Inside Passage, visiting Sitka, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert, and taking in all the glaciers, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery Alaska is famous for.

As travel advisors, we spend a lot of time helping our clients create amazing memories. This time is no different! But it’s also our turn to be adventurous and try something exciting and new!

Will we see whales? 🐋
Will Erica catch a salmon? 🎣
Will she actually commit to the Gorton’s Fisherman outfit? ⚓️

This week was the perfect reminder that travel advising isn’t just about the booking.

📍Case in point: my clients delayed flight turned into a missed international connection, an overnight stay in Los Angeles, transfer changes in Tokyo, reservation adjustments, insurance considerations, and a complete reevaluation of the first day of a dream trip.

My clients shouldn’t have to figure all of that out while sitting in an airport. And they didn’t have to.

That’s my job.

And it’s one of the reasons I love what I do.

Several emails, calls, adjustments later… they are finally on their way to Tokyo and everything is set!

The longer I work in travel, the more I realize that luxury has very little to do with things.

Luxury is a feeling.

It's feeling cared for.
It's feeling relaxed.
It's feeling excited instead of overwhelmed.
It's knowing you're exactly where you're supposed to be.
The most memorable trips aren't always the most expensive.
They're the ones that leave you saying,
"I wish I could do that all over again."

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer — it’s a time to reflect with gratitude on those who gave everything in service to our country and the families who carry their legacy forward.

As we gather with loved ones, travel, and create memories this weekend, may we never forget the true meaning behind the day.

If you ask 10 people what their favorite color is, you’ll get 10 different answers for 10 different reasons. The same goes for travel. ✈️

It’s knowing which train tickets are worth upgrading and which aren’t.
Which Venice hotels have private docks. When a private transfer is worth every penny.
Which “perfect” itineraries are actually exhausting (and why).
Which locations only look convenient online.
Which reservations need to be locked in months ahead.

It’s the tiny details that can completely change a trip.

That knowledge didn’t come from TikTok or Google. It came from years of experience, education, firsthand travel, industry relationships, and investing my own time and money into learning what truly works.
