The chute gets the photos. The boat does the heavy lifting.

Sky Surfer is a 35-foot, USCG-inspected parasailing vessel built to carry up to 15 passengers. Its padded back deck and winch system allow flyers to lift off and return without jumping into the Gulf.

Fun Fact: Parasailing started as military training. Beach vacation was the plot twist.

In 1962, French engineer Pierre-Marcel Lemoigne developed an ascending-gliding parachute that could be towed behind a vehicle or boat, allowing paratroopers to practice without an airplane. The first winch boat followed in 1973 and helped shape the smooth takeoffs and landings used today.

More than 60 years later, the training tool has become one of the best views in Orange Beach.
