Well… NOT exactly how we planned to spend our Saturday night!
But if there’s one thing we’ve learned as business owners, it’s that you never really know what’s coming—you just have to roll with the punches.
We were sitting at home enjoying one of those rare, nice, QUIET Saturday evenings when Mr. Don, our neighbor at Peg Leg’s, called Kenny and said:
“YOUR BLUE BOAT IS SINKING!”
Excuse me… WHAT?!
It hadn’t rained at our house, so we were completely confused. Wellllll… apparently it RAINED at the beach. And not just a little—it got downright GNARLY down there.
Our lift motor had literally just been repaired early Saturday morning, but the straps weren’t ready yet. Kenny planned to finish everything Monday and get the boat back on the lift.
The automatic bilge didn’t kick on, the rain came down HARD, and… well… here we were.
We cannot thank Blake Lowe, Captain Jim Roberts, and Captain Lee King enough for dropping what they were doing, coming out, and helping us get her UP and out of the water. And a huge thank you to Captain Alex Pilot for meeting us at the boat ramp and helping get her out and loaded up.
Through ALL of this, there is one HUGE thing we are incredibly thankful for—NO FUEL LEAKS WHATSOEVER. With everything that happened, knowing no fuel got into the water is an absolute blessing.
She’s home now, sitting safely on the trailer.
Now comes the not-so-fun part—draining fluids, turning wrenches, working on her, and hoping and praying we got to her in time and everything is going to be okay.
Definitely not the Saturday night we planned…but last night was a reminder that good people are worth their weight in gold.
Thank you again to EVERYONE who jumped in to help us save Ol’ Blue. We appreciate y’all more than you know!
And Mr. Don… THANK GOD you were paying attention!
And while y’all are praying… throw one in there for ME too, because when Captain Kenny is working on Ol’ Blue, that fuse might get a liiiiittle short.
I’ll just be over here trying to determine when it’s safe to ask, “Soooo… how’s it going?”
XOXO,
Stephanie
