Kalua Pork is a staple that you will see on many menus and be prepared to order the mouth watering dish.

What is kalua, anyway? Simply put, the word means “(from the) pit,” so basically, any food that has been cooked in an underground oven called an imu is considered “kalua.” The most famous—and most popular at luaus—is kalua pig, but many other foods including fish and vegetables are also cooked in this way.

A Napali coast catamaran ride will give you an incredible sightseeing experience if you stomach can handle it. There are sea turtles, scores of fish and schools of dolphin to catch a glimpse of or even swim with. The seas are known to be rough though so make sure to take your motion sickness preventative if you embark on this adventure.

At a glance, the flesh of Kauaʻi Sugarloaf is rich green and the outside flesh will feel much harder than other pineapple, even though the inside of Sugarloaf is softer, it has been described as creamy with no strings and with an edible core.

A pineapple that is heavy for its size in comparison to other pineapples the same size will be sweeter. Sugar weighs more than water, hence a really sweet fully ripened pineapple is heavier than a unripe pineapple of the same size.

The Kauai Sugarloaf farm has tours every week and we highly recommend hopping on one or at least picking up a pineapple or two to devour. It will truly be the best pineapple of your life.

This is Beemo and we took him out on a field trip in Kauai from Kauai Humane Society and it was a highlight of the trip! I highly recommend doing so on a day of exploring.

Enjoy the natural beauty of the Garden Island, get your “dog fix,” and give a shelter dog a break from the kennels all at the same time! Taking the dog out of the shelter and allowing him or her to have a fun day is incredibly beneficial to the dog’s mental health, it often helps the dog get adopted, and most importantly, we get to learn more about the dog’s true behavior

It is time for my personal favorite island, Kauai!

Kauaʻi is Hawaiʻi's fourth largest island and is sometimes called the "Garden Island". The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires and jagged cliffs aged by time and the elements. Centuries of growth have formed tropical rainforests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls! Some parts of Kauaʻi are only accessible by sea or air, revealing views beyond your imagination. More than just dramatic beauty, the island is home to a variety of outdoor activities. You can kayak the Wailua River, snorkel on Poʻipū Beach, hike the trails of Kōkeʻe State Park, or go ziplining above Kauaʻi's lush valleys. But, it is the island's laid-back atmosphere and rich culture found in its small towns that make it truly timeless. Explore the regions of Kauaʻi and make your escape to discover the undeniable allure of the island.
