Yes, Philadelphia is the mural capital of the world and possibly the city with the most outdoor, publicly visible art on the planet. BUT as impressive as the "official" murals might seem, the unofficial ones, done by private residents and businesses alike, as well as the street art (done with taste and at select sites) truly takes things to the next level.

Saturday - so time for

Shouting out one of the best traditional delis in Philadelphia and a cornerstone of Port Richmond for decades - Swiacki Meats. One of the fabulous stops on our "SMOKE-SALT-SOLIDARITY: The Polish Kitchens of Philadelphia" tour which we run a few times a year. Next round will happen Friday and Saturday June 5th and 6th. Enjoyed connecting with other hospitality and tourism peeps from across the Greater Philadelphia area today at the annual Philadelphia Hospitality Symposium. Some good sessions and lots of energy for all that's happening in and around the city this year.

While the city and various tourism associations seem to be trying to prevent gridlock on the streets, especially during FIFA World Cup games, the choice of Lemon Hill as the site for the fanzone is still a poor choice given its location and distance from major public transportation hubs. Since only ticket holders will be able to enter the Stadium grounds for the actual games - would have made more sense to place it the Navy Yard where there's till a ton of unused space, shuttles from NRG stop on the Broadstreet Line would be easy and quick and frequent, and it would avoid creating even more gridlock and problems for all the neighborhoods surrounding Lemon Hill and everyone in NW Philly that depends on Kelly and MLK Drives to get in/out of the city. Oh well. At least they're being considerate and closing the Fanzone at the start of the last match each day so as to avoid noise issues for residents.
