“I wish you water.” 💙

Those words from the late marine biologist and SEE Turtles co-founder, Wallace J. Nichols, have deep meaning to us.

For all students, we wish them oceans to explore, rivers to swim in, wildlife encounters they'll never forget, and the chance to build meaningful connections, not just with nature, but with the people they meet along the way.

Here, ECOTEACH students are heading out into the field with our partners at LAST (Latin American Sea Turtles), a Costa Rican organization working to protect sea turtles through research and conservation. Their local field teams have years of experience studying and protecting these animals, and they help give students a firsthand look at what conservation work is really like.

Some of the best learning happens outside the classroom, and there's research to back that up!

Studies show that field trips can get kids more curious, more engaged, and more interested in learning. Kids might not remember every fact they learned on a field trip, but they often remember the experience and want to learn more.

At ECOTEACH we want students to get out there. Explore new places, see wildlife in the wild, ask questions, get their hands dirty and experience the things they've been learning about in school.

5 Questions to Ask Students Before Visiting a Sea Turtle Nesting Beach ‼

Are you a teacher taking students abroad? Visiting a sea turtle nesting beach is about more than seeing turtles. It’s a great chance for students to think like scientists, learn how to protect wildlife, conservation, and understand what sea turtles need to survive.
