Providence is having a moment. ❤️

Huge thanks to Lauren Matison and The New York Times for capturing the creativity, history, food, art and independent spirit that make Providence such a special place.

From the murals and riverwalks to neighborhood coffee shops, local bookstores, WaterFire, RISD, Benefit Street and our incredible restaurant scene, the article highlights what locals already know: Providence is one of the most vibrant, walkable and creatively driven cities in the country.

We especially loved this line:
“Providence makes for a laid-back weekend break — and a cool alternative to Boston and Newport.”

Couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Thank you as well to our partners at Praytell and all of the other collaborators for helping share Providence’s story on a national stage.

One of the oldest cities in America makes for a laid-back weekend break.

The Independent just called Providence one of the most beautiful downtowns in America, and we're not arguing.

🏛️ Beaux-Arts buildings, Art Deco towers, that massive marble dome on the State House, the Westminster Arcade. This is architecture that actually makes you stop and look.

⛵️ Walk the Riverwalk, eat at Al Forno, stay at The Graduate. That's the move.

Our very own Jonathon Walker, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Sports Commission, was featured in a WPRI 12 segment to discuss the funding of youth soccer programs.

"It’s going to help grow the game and hopefully keep kids in sports for longer which, again, has great impact beyond youth sports and into their careers," Walker said.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup soon coming to town, work is underway to expand access to youth soccer in Rhode Island.
