Wilkerson Pass Weekend — April Done Right 🌲☀️
Snuck away with Tammy for a quick camp up near Wilkerson Pass, and this is exactly why we live here.
Found a spot that felt completely off the grid—no one around, just open meadow, aspens starting to wake up, and that mix of pine and sun you only get this time of year. April can go either way up here, but we hit it right.
Days were easy. Cool in the shade, warm in the sun, and just enough breeze to remind you you’re sitting at elevation. Spent some time kicked back in the hammocks, no schedule, just letting the day play out.
Breakfast was hobo pies over the fire—crispy, simple, and better than anything you’d make at home. Threw some smoked Cholula on top and called it done. That’s about as mountain gourmet as it gets.
Once the sun dropped, it turned into a completely different experience. Clear sky, stars everywhere, no light pollution at all. Orion and Canis Major were laid out clean, and it just goes quiet in a way you don’t get anywhere else.
Made a run into Divide and stopped at Paradox Beer Company—solid spot. Good beer, relaxed vibe, worth the stop every time.
That’s the advantage of this area—you can be completely alone in the trees, then 20–30 minutes later you’re sitting at a brewery with a cold one.
