122 years ago, The Miracle of Powered Flight was achieved by two brothers, Wilbur and Orville Wright at a little place called Kitty Hawk.

In "the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air, powered flight", Orville traveled over 120 feet in 12 seconds after Wilbur, running alongside the Flyer I, let go. The Wright Flyer, or Kitty Hawk, would make four trips, the last of which lasted for 852 feet.

Did you know that only about .5% of luggage gets lost each year by airlines and most of that finds its way back to original owners within a few days?

While chances are low of this happening, here are some ways to increase the safety of your luggage while traveling:

- Clearly mark your luggage on the outside with contact details
- Use a GPS luggage tracker such as an Air Tag
- Direct flights reduce chances of missed connections
- Arrive at the airport early to give time for baggage handling
- Secure your bags with TSA-approved locks
- Include a copy of your itinerary/hotel details inside your luggage
- Use your airline app (if available) to track your luggage status
- Remove old flight tags from your luggage before flying
- Use a carry-on to pack your essentials, including medications, a change of clothing, etc.
