Hagrid’s is WORTH the wait! 🏍️

I’ve ridden Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure MANY times, and it’s still one of my favorite attractions at Universal Orlando.

Yes, the wait can be LONG. But Hagrid’s isn’t just about the coaster it’s the entire experience. The storytelling, queue details, surprises, technology and thrills all come together SO well.

A few tips from someone who spends a lot of time in these parks:

🏍️ Have a plan for WHEN you ride
⏱️ Keep an eye on wait times throughout the day
📅 Your strategy may change depending on how many park days you have
⭐ Know your family’s must-dos before you arrive

Would I wait 120 minutes every single visit? Probably not.

But if it’s your first trip or Hagrid’s is a MUST-DO? Make time for it!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS AT UNIVERSAL?

Florida weather can change FAST. One minute it’s sunny, and the next you’re reaching for a poncho.

But a little rain definitely doesn’t have to ruin your park day. I’ve done it, and I actually loved it! On one of my trips, it rained on our last park day, and instead of calling it quits, we took advantage of the crowds clearing out. We ended up getting almost a full park day’s worth of rides done in about 4 hours!

A few of my rainy-day tips:

☔ Pack a lightweight poncho. They’re easy to carry and quick to throw on when those Florida showers pop up.

👟 Think about your shoes. Weather-resistant shoes are a great investment, and an extra pair of socks can make a big difference. Nobody wants to walk around in wet socks all day!

🧥 Rain Jackets help a lot too! We usually carry light weight rain jackets as an alternative to ponchos.

🎢 Keep riding when you can! Most attractions will continue operating during light rain. If lightning moves into the area and outdoor rides temporarily close, switch gears and head to an indoor attraction, catch a show, do some shopping or grab a meal.

🏬 Use heavier rain as a break. On one rainy morning, we enjoyed a nice, relaxed breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron while we waited for the weather to pass.

And here’s the bonus: rain can clear out the crowds! Fewer people can mean shorter lines, which means you may be able to get a LOT more rides done.

So don’t automatically cancel your Universal park day because you see rain in the forecast. Throw on that poncho or rain jacket, adjust your plans and keep going!

I’m trading the desk for a few stadium seats and traveling with my husband to check a few more things off our sports bucket list!

We’re on a mission to visit every NFL stadium, so each season we try to follow our New Orleans Saints on the road for 1–2 away games.

But this trip is extra fun because apparently one stadium wasn’t enough…

THREE stadiums. THREE games. THREE days.

We’ll be catching a Michigan vs. Oklahoma game (my husband is a HUGE Michigan fan) a Detroit Tigers game, and of course, our Saints vs the Lions!

Stay tuned because I’ll be sharing some of the highlights along the way.
And please say a little prayer for my sodium intake this weekend. Stadium food for three straight days! YIKES!!

🚂 HOGWARTS EXPRESS: THINGS TO KNOW!

I spend a lot of time in the Universal parks, and this is one tip I always make sure my clients know the Hogwarts Express isn’t just transportation between parks. It’s an attraction too!

🎟️ You NEED a Park-to-Park ticket.
You cannot ride with a one-park-per-day ticket because you’re actually traveling between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

🚂 Ride it BOTH ways!
King’s Cross ➡️ Hogsmeade and Hogsmeade ➡️ King’s Cross are completely different experiences with different scenes and surprises.

❄️ It’s also a great break!
You get a few minutes in the A/C, off your feet, while making your way to the other park.

💡 PRO TIP: I like to build the Hogwarts Express into my clients’ park strategy instead of treating it as an afterthought. Your ticket type, timing, and which direction you ride can all make a difference in your day.

After plenty of rides on the Hogwarts Express myself, I still say ride BOTH directions!

I KNOW BECAUSE I GO and this is one experience Harry Potter fans should not miss!

Ollivanders Wand Shop in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida is so much more than just a place to buy a wand.

Step inside for the famous “wand chooses the wizard” experience, where one guest is selected by the wandkeeper for their own magical wand fitting. And yes, adults can be chosen too!

I actually had my own wand choose me. During COVID, my husband arranged for me to be chosen during the last Ollivanders show of the evening for my birthday. Of course I kept my wand! It’s still such a special memory for the Harry Potter fan in me.

And just so you know if you’re chosen, you are not required to purchase the wand afterward.

There is also an Ollivanders in Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, but I personally love the Diagon Alley location. There’s just something extra special about experiencing Ollivanders where it belongs in the Harry Potter story.

It’s these little experiences and details that can make a Universal vacation even more memorable.
