✨ : A Tradition of Welcoming Visitors

Long before the Saratoga Visitor Center welcomed guests at 297 Broadway, this corner was home to two grand hotels.

The Crescent Hotel once stood here before it was destroyed by fire. It was replaced by the enormous Grand Central Hotel, which opened in 1872 and could accommodate more than 1,000 guests. Sadly, the Grand Central was also lost to fire on October 1, 1874.

In 1915, the building we know today as the Saratoga Visitor Center opened on the site as a trolley station, welcoming passengers traveling to Saratoga’s mineral springs. In 1941, the building began another chapter as a state-operated “Drink Hall,” where visitors could purchase and taste Saratoga’s famous mineral waters.

From grand hotels and trolley passengers to mineral-water tastings—and now visitors from around the world—this corner of Broadway has a long tradition of welcoming guests to Saratoga Springs.

Stop by the Saratoga Visitor Center at 297 Broadway. We’re open Tuesday–Saturday from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and our friendly, knowledgeable staff is ready to help you discover everything Saratoga has to offer!

A big thank-you to everyone who helped make the SHEratoga Trolley Tour on August 26—Women’s Equality Day—such a meaningful and memorable experience!

Held on a day that commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment and women’s right to vote, the tour celebrated the courageous, determined and influential women who helped shape Saratoga Springs and advance the fight for equality.

SHEratoga stood for more than sharing history. It honored the women who raised their voices, challenged expectations and worked to create greater freedom, opportunity and equality for generations to come.

A special thank-you to Nancy Baird Brown, who led the tour and brought these important stories to life through her knowledge, enthusiasm and engaging storytelling.

This collaborative tour between the Saratoga Visitor Center and Saratoga Springs History Museum included museum admission, where Nancy led guests through a special women’s suffrage exhibit she helped design.

We also thank everyone who helped research, plan and organize the tour, along with our trolley driver, staff and volunteers. Each person played an important role in making the event possible.

Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us for the tour. We appreciate your enthusiasm, thoughtful questions and interest in learning more about the extraordinary women whose contributions are an important part of Saratoga’s story! 💜

We’re happy to announce the return of our Classic Car Cruise-In at the SC&H Railway! 2026 marks the 5th year we’ve hosted our cruise-in, so we’re hoping for a great turnout!!

On Saturday September 26th, we’ll be running 2 shuttle trains from Corinth Station to LaMothe Landing where our classic car friends will have their vehicles on display, along with live music, food + drinks for purchase and plenty of lawn games and chairs to relax in! Passengers will take the 30 minute train ride down and have a 1.5 hour layover at LaMothe to enjoy the event.

For classic car owners, we invite vehicles made before 1990 to attend, please fill out the Google form below to register your vehicle at no cost. We ask classic cars to please arrive no later than 11 am. At 2:15 pm we will announce our prizes for favorite vehicles of the show!

Each classic car will receive one complimentary train ride ticket to any of the trains running the day of our cruise-in. If you have more than one person riding in with you, they can purchase additional tickets at our ticket stand for $10 kids and $15 adults.
