Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
And to those, like myself, who miss their dads daily and find today filled with mixed emotions, give yourself a day filled with positives; Whatever that may be for you.
For me: it’s looking back on all the amazing memories I have with my dad at home and around the world. Remembering going to our local pasta shop together, and Yankees games, running around DisneyWorld to get on the “mountains” before close, riding mopeds around Bermuda, and drinking a Pimm’s Cup at Napoleon House in NOLA.
The selfie above we took when he finally, not only got to New Orleans but, got to see me work as well (I was interpreting ASL/English at music festivals back then). We had such an amazing trip!! I got to show him around the place I had worked for a number of years and show him around a city I fell in love with. We crammed so much into that trip, it was an absolute blast😁
It also was my dad’s very last vacation … a year later, he passed away… which all came on suddenly & shocked us all.
Figuring out life without my dad was hard but immediately something changed in me…. Suddenly, in a flash, everything can change, why not make the most of our time here? My sister felt it too and shortly thereafter, mom got on board. Now we travel as much as we can, see as much as we can, and do as much as we can!! 🛫
The truth is: Life is short, Book the trip! 🌴
