When I say a Lock It In cabin might land you in a loud location, this is what I actually mean.

Specific rooms, specific problems:

* Next to the Red Room, you can hear the shows
* On deck 14, you can hear the weights dropping in the gym

Some people will read that and shrug, and that is completely fair. Noise genuinely does not bother everybody.

But there is a second thing nobody thinks about until they are living it, and that is motion.

I am sensitive to it. On the Brilliant Lady transatlantic crossing I had the option to move into an XL Sea Terrace at the front of the ship, and I turned it down to stay in a Central Sea Terrace instead.

I am so glad I did. By day 7 we were at sea and it was rocking hard enough that I remember thinking if they do not send a helicopter for me, I am swimming to shore. That was from the middle of the ship. The front would have been considerably worse.

Front of the ship or mid ship is a real decision with real consequences. Lock It In makes that decision for you.

Most people miss the biggest Virgin Voyages deal of the year because they start planning the day it drops 🛳️ Save these 6 ⬇️

Last year the sale ran all the way into March. The deal stuck around. The prices did not. As sailings fill, fares climb, and the cabin you wanted goes with them. The sailors who saved the most had already decided before it launched.

1. WHERE
The Med, Alaska and the Caribbean are totally different trips. "I want to go in December" is not a sailing yet. Pick the part of the world first.

2. WHEN
Caribbean summer is high season and the most expensive. December to February is when those sailings get crazy cheap. The Med runs about May to October and barely dips. Alaska is May to September, and July is the month to go.

3. WHO
Send the invites now, because everyone you bring has to clear the same calendar you do. Sailor 2 can be changed as many times as you want, so lots of people book with it blank until the group settles.

4. WHICH SHIP
The entertainment, and some of the food, changes by ship. Done Scarlet Lady three times and want a different show? You need a different ship. I just sailed Valiant Lady and Ariya is amazing.

5. WHICH CABIN
First sailing, Sea Terrace at minimum. You need that hammock on your own balcony at least once. Going to Alaska, you want a balcony of some kind. And read the fine print on the promo: the big sailor loot number says "up to," and the top number usually takes a Rockstar suite, on certain sailings only.

6. WHICH FARE
Base (the Lock It In rate) means you do not pick your room and there is no price adjusting. Book a year out at $3,000, watch it drop to $2,000, and that $1,000 is gone. 98% of the sailors who book with us choose Essentials.

Want the trip you talk about for a decade? The Arctic Circle one. First time in this part of the world and you want a bit of everything? The 12 night with the Stockholm overnight.

Honest note, because I am not going to oversell this one. On the 12 night, Berlin is not a port. You dock at Warnemünde and it is a train each way, so it is a long day and you will be tired. Great if Berlin is a bucket list city for you. Skippable if it is not, and there is no shame in staying on the ship.

One question worth asking before anyone books your Virgin Voyages sailing: how many of these have you actually done?

Here's why it matters. There is a real difference between someone who has booked a dozen people and seen a dozen use cases, and someone who has done thousands of bookings and seen thousands of unique situations. Not similar situations. Weird ones. The edge cases.

Because Virgin Voyages is still a young cruise line and they are still figuring plenty out. Offers change. Reprice rules have windows. Room types behave differently under the same promo. Every one of those shifts creates a caveat, and the only way to know the caveat is to have already hit it with somebody else's booking.

Real talk: this is the part of the job that doesn't show up in the price quote. Anyone can pull up a website and read you a number. Knowing that repricing inside 120 days turns your refund into a future voyage credit, or that the advertised bar tab is zero on the exact room you were about to pick, is a different thing entirely.

And there's one more piece. As a Top 10 Virgin Voyages First Mate, we have direct access to the team. If something is genuinely wrong with a booking, we can pick up the phone and say so. Not every agent can do that, and calling Sailor Services yourself means a hold time we are not going to discuss on camera.
