A new electric train is now in service in Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley, linking Kokand, Namangan, Andijan, and Margilan in a single regional loop.

The six-car train carries nearly 600 passengers and runs at speeds of up to 120 km/h, with onboard features such as Wi-Fi and climate control.

The Fergana Valley holds some of Uzbekistan’s most distinct regional cultures: Kokand’s khanate-era architecture, Margilan’s centuries-old silk-weaving tradition, and the bazaar life of Namangan and Andijan. With regular passenger rail now linking these cities, the valley is easier to access as a single continuous route.

Armenia is drawing renewed international attention through diplomacy, wine, and culture.

In recent years, the country has hosted UN Tourism’s Global Conference on Wine Tourism, been selected to host the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and strengthened ties with European leaders.

At the same time, travelers are looking more closely at Armenia’s monasteries, mountain landscapes, food traditions, and wine regions. What was once overlooked is now becoming part of a wider global conversation.

MIR has traveled through Armenia for decades, building routes across the Caucasus with regional expertise and long-standing local connections.

8000 years of wine. Thousands of years of bread wheat cultivation. Georgia’s place in the history of food and agriculture continues to grow.

A recent PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America) study identifies Georgia as one of the oldest documented centers of bread wheat cultivation, adding to a country already closely tied to the origins of qvevri winemaking and enduring agricultural traditions across the South Caucasus.

MIR has spent over four decades traveling through Georgia, from vineyard villages and mountain communities to monasteries and lively cities.
