According to Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, the country is developing tourism infrastructure at nine caves and one salt mine across Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya.

The new plan calls for creating tourist routes and digital tools such as 3D models and virtual tours, introducing safety measures, and training guides. From 2026 to 2028, facilities including parking, rest areas, and utility networks will also be developed at the sites. The program also aims to involve local communities through family guesthouses, guiding, and other tourism services.

The initiative will support Uzbekistan’s efforts to expand tourism beyond its well-known Silk Road cities and introduce travelers to more of the country’s natural landscapes.

Khiva is set to host the international exhibition “Splendor of Carpets” on October 17 and 18 at the Arda Khiva complex.

The two-day event will focus on the history of carpet weaving, the meaning behind traditional ornaments and decorative elements, and the ways these traditions continue in contemporary design. The program also includes a conference on carpet-weaving traditions and innovation, as well as visits to the Silk Museum in Itchan Kala.
