According to Le Monde, Seoul is now home to Centre Pompidou Hanwha, a new museum of modern and contemporary art created through cooperation between Paris’s Centre Pompidou and the Hanwha Foundation of Culture. It opened on June 4, 2026, in a renovated annex of the landmark 63 Building in Yeouido.

Designed by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the museum takes the form of a “box of light” near the Han River. It was established as a space for cooperation and cultural exchange between the French and Korean art scenes.

Busan, South Korea, hosted the 48th session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee, bringing global heritage experts to the country and placing South Korea at the center of a major international event focused on the world's cultural and natural heritage.

Representatives from 21 States Parties gathered at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, known as BEXCO. During the session, they considered nominations for potential additions to the World Heritage List and examined conservation reports for sites already inscribed on it.
