What a beautiful day in Skagway. We started out with sprinkles and then snow flakes at the summit and then reflections on Tutshi Lake.

Cheer on Michelle Phillips and team on March 7th!

The road to the 54th Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race® continues! 🚨 We’re on to our next musher in the 2026 Musher Roll Call—introducing each competitor alphabetically as we count down to Nome. 🐾

Up next in the lineup—Iditarod Veteran Michelle Phillips ❄️

Michelle Phillips is a born-and-raised Yukoner who lives in Ten Mile, Yukon Territory, where she co-owns and operates Tagish Lake Kennel with fellow Iditarod finisher Ed Hopkins. Together they train, care for, and race a team of about 35 incredible dogs.

Michelle has been running dogs for more than two decades and brings an impressive resume to the trail. She is a nine-time Yukon Quest veteran, and has competed in and finished 13 of the last 15 Iditarods—a true testament to her consistency and grit. Last year, she powered her team to an impressive 4th place finish. 🏁🔥 She’s also a two-time champion of the Yukon Quest 300 and has raced (and won) across the North, including the Percy De Wolfe, Kobuk 440, Klondike 300, Cantwell Classic, Gin Gin 200 (setting a record!), Denali Doubles, Taiga 300, Paul Johnson Race, and Copper Basin 300.

Her commitment to excellence in dog care has earned her the Herbie Nayokpuk Award in the Iditarod, the Vet’s Choice Award in the Yukon Quest, and multiple Rookie of the Year honors early in her career.

Michelle says she simply loves running dogs and looks forward to traveling the beautiful Iditarod Trail each year. With experience, heart, and a powerhouse team, she’s always one to watch. 💙🐕
